Becoming Jane

    
     

 Few days ago, I watched a movie—Becoming Jane. It describes the early life of author Jane Austen. She is an English novelist whose works of romantic fiction. She wrote many famous novels, such as Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Park, and Pride and Prejudice. Although the film assumes an otherwise unproven relationship between Austen and Lefroy, the original screenplay was inspired by real events, which were chronicled in the book Becoming Jane Austen by Jon Spence. The plot of story is that Jane Austen is the youngest daughter in her family and her mother has yet to find a suitable husband for her. She wants to be writer, but in her time women had better to be ignorant. Thomas Lefroy is a promising lawyer with a bad reputation. At first sight, Jane has a bad impression about the arrogant Irishman. Later, Mr. Wisley, the nephew of the wealthy Lady Gresham, proposes to Jane, but Jane ultimately rejects him due to lack of affection. Tom continues his advances mischievously and Jane begins to take the idea of marriage seriously. The two get to know each other gradually, however, and eventually they fall in love. Tom, Jane, Henry and Jane's rich widowed cousin receive an invitation from Tom's uncle. This visit is meant to be a short break in their journey. This would allow Tom’s uncle to get to know Jane before give a blessing for their marriage. However, Tom’s uncle receives a letter informing him Jane’s family is poor, so he refuses to agree this marriage. Tom tells Jane that he cannot marry her, and she's sad. Jane goes back home and accepts the marriage proposal of Mr. Wisley. Later, Tom realizes he cannot live without Jane, and comes back and says that they should run away. Jane agrees, and they leave. On the way, Jane finds a letter from Tom's mother, and realizes his situation. She tells Tom that they can't do this, not with that many people depending upon him. He insists that he and Jane must marry. He says he'll make the money, but Jane knowing that is impossible. So Jane leaves and goes back home. Years later Jane and Tom meet again. Her brother brings him to her. After a moment Tom introduces his daughter who is also a huge fan of Jane's book. Her daughter asks Jane to read, Tom quickly calls her name, Jane. It is surprised that Tom named his daughter Jane. Therefore, Jane agrees to read her book in public. At the end of the movie, Tom's daughter sitting by Jane as she reads Pride and Prejudice. Tom stars at Jane like he used to, showing he still loves her. Anyway, I think this movie is worthy to be watched because it shows me that the true love is not to occupy. Although the rational decision will make me to be very painful, the pain will turn into the nutrient finally. Jane is a brave and sincere woman, she strives for her true love, and she also has the courage to leave in the final moment. She knows what she wants and believes that the woman may support herself depending on her strength. She writes unremittingly, deeply believed that she can write stories which can touch others. Suddenly, I realize what I lack through this film; I think I lack confidence. A woman may not be the most beautiful, smart, and attractive one, but she does not lack self-confidence and relentless faith. I always like her works. It is so simple and realistic. She is good at describing feminine and society's relations and the contradiction. In her works, she discussed that the relationship between love and money. Affection is desirable. Money is absolutely indispensible. Nothing destroys spirit like poverty. At the end of the story, she chose to leave. And she said, “But if our love destroys your family, it will destroy itself. My sweet, sweet friend, you will sink, and we will all sink with you. In a long, slow degradation of guilt and regret and blame. They are made from contradiction.” She has made such a choice. Even if it is painful, she let her love go. (696 words)

Youth and Age

Many people fear about aging. They check their hairline in the mirror every day, and they had gone from being proud to say their age. I had read a book, and in the book, a sick old man said, “The young are not wise. They have very little understanding about life. Who wants to live everyday when you don’t know what’s going on? When people are manipulating you, telling you to buy this perfume and you will be beautiful, or this pair of jeans and you will be sexy－and you believe them! It’s such nonsense.”

I think that everyone afraid to grow old. But why don’t we change our thinking upside down? Why don’t we embrace aging? As you grow, you learn more. If you stayed at twenty-two, you’d always be as ignorant as you were at twenty-two. Aging is not just decay. It’s growth. It’s more than the negative that you’re going to die, it’s also the positive that you understand you’re going to die, and that you live a better life because of it.

Maybe some people would wonder that if aging were so valuable, why people always say, “Oh, if I were young again.” You never hear people say, “I wish I were sixty-five.” I think that it reflects unsatisfied lives and unfulfilled lives. If you’ve found meaning in your life, you don’t want to go back. You want to go forward. You want to see more, and do more. If you are always battling against getting older, you are always going to be unhappy, because it will happen anyhow. The fact is that you are going to die eventually.

It is impossible for the old not to envy the young. But the issue is to accept who you are and revel in that. This is your time to be your age. You have to find what is good and true and beautiful in your life. Looking back makes you competitive. Have confidence in yourself but always remain open to other points of view. You are always learning - your brain hasn't closed its filing cabinet - so add new thoughts and ideas to it to broaden your mind. Aging is just another stage of our journey with its own mysteries and learning possibilities, we choose what to do with these opportunities.(390 words)

Should Students Wear Uniforms?

  Since Japanese colonial rule, students have to wear school uniforms to the school. This rule still exists in Taiwan, but in some western countries students don’t have to wear uniforms. Recently, some people argued if students should wear uniform or not. In my opinion, the rule which is force that forces students to wear school uniforms should be abolished, because students have right to make their own decisions on what to wear to school.

    Some people said that wearing uniforms can prevent students from comparing what they dress and avoid poor students’ feeling inferior. Actually, there is no difference between the clothes the rich students and the poor students wear. Some poor students still can wear very clean and comfortable clothes as rich students when they are not in the school. On the contrary, most of the time we see rich students wear clean and fit uniforms in the school. But poor students wear oversize or exuded yellow uniforms because they don’t have enough money to buy a new one.

    People insist that wearing uniforms can prevent students from getting distracted and they can concentrate on their study. I admit that wearing uniforms can save time ; students don’t need to think about their daily wear. But in fact, there are too many distractions in our life, just like television, online games, etc. And Students always try to alter their uniforms, adding adornment on it or not tucking the shirt in the pants. They try to create their own style on their looks. The government encourages students to cultivate their own thinking and creativity, but restrict students’ creativity on their appearances. In fact, learning how to wear right clothes in different occasions is important. Students can learn it from their classmates, and teachers or parents can instruct them to choose proper clothes.

    I agree that wearing uniforms makes it easy for us to recognize and identify students. But the face of school bully is still very serious and gangsters also spread in the schools. The government should strengthen the safety of schools by policy, like adding polices patrolling the schools to prevent crime , not just by asking students to wear monotonous, dull uniforms.

  To sum up, although most schools still ask their students to wear uniforms, this rule can be changed or abolished. I think wearing uniforms should be abolished, because students should be respected and given the right to deal with what they wear.(414words)

Seven Pounds

    In my leisure time, I always like to see the movie. I think it can help me relax, and reduce my pressure. Now I want to share a movie which I most like. The most movies I like is “SEVEN POUNDS”. It is talking about a man who had big car accident before and he lost his wife and other friends; in total seven people. After that, he chose seven peoples that he didn’t see before and did his best to help them to improve their situations. One girl who’s name is Amélie. She was suffered from heart disease and need someone could donated a healthy heart to her. Eventually, Ben loved her and determined to donate his heart to her; he was killed himself actually. The seven people who were helped by Ben before had a new life now; they

appreciated his grant, especially Amélie. I think this movie is talking about big range things; it is about the emotions of brother; the husband and wife and the friend and so on. I love Will Smith very much because of his acting. He is always entering the role in movie and interprets very well. I cried when I saw this movie, and almost people do the same thing with me; to snivel. I expect his new movie in future, and I hope this movie you will like it.(229)

Can We Use The Cell Phone in School?

When I was in high school, there were many school's rules, and one of them is "no cell phone in school". Being a college student it is very strange for us, why does the high school have this rule. The high school's teachers would say if students had to make a phone call, they can use the phone in the teacher's offices. In my opinion, students can use the cell phone no matter in high schools or other places. The reason why I think that is because sometimes we must meet some emergency, and we have to use the cell phone immediately. But some people say that if students can carry the cell phone to schools, they will not concentrate on class. They are many functions of the cell phone, and students can surf the Internet, or do other things except studying.
     Although this issue is argued for many years, we still cannot find the consensus. Some people say "no", but I have other view of this issue. I think the cell phone not only can make a call but also do other things. We can check the Internet to watch the news or record our school life. Nowadays, there are many bullying in schools, I think a cell phone can help others or ourselves. Many victims of bullying are afraid of talking to teachers or parents. We found lots of bullies from the Internet, and finally people actually realize bullying exist very long time. Owing to the cell phone, people can send the pictures or videos to the Internet.
     Some teachers say if students can bring cell phone to schools, it will disturb their teaching, but I think this situation can be handled easily. Teachers can ask students close their cell phone in class. If someone is against this rule, the teacher can confiscate students' cell phone. I think this way is fair no matter to students or teachers. I think using the cell phone can let me feel safe. I remembered when I was in high school, my mother got a phone call from the scam, and the sharper told my mom that they already kidnapped me. Fortunately, my mom is smart, she called me before she gave money to the sharper.
    To sum up, I think students can use the cell phone in schools but not in class. If we meet some emergency, we can use the cell phone immediately. Our parents can find us easily through the cell phone. After all the public security is not very good in Taiwan.(424)

The Issue of Racism

A sensational incident recently happened in the fashion industry, which was the crime of John Galliano, a world-known chief designer of Christian Dior. He made a seriously vicious criticism to a woman next to his table at a bar in Paris. He declared that he loves Hitler, and all the Jewish should be dead. His malignant statement had been recorded and uploaded on Youtube by the people in the bar. Galliano was soon charged with slander and got fired by Dior. The incident brought up the controversial issue again about “should people get fired because he/she is a racist”? I approve the concept that racism people should get fired because of the following points.

First, racists may have the inclination of committing crimes. They are aggressive to slander, or abuse the group of the race they disliked. Some of them even think those “lower races” should be eliminated and killed. The famous example of racism is the Holocaust to the Jewish by Hitler. The Jews were sent to camps, killed by the poisonous gas. He killed millions of innocent European Jews from children to adults during the World War II. That was one of the cruelest genocides in the world. It is reasonable to fire racists because their violent tendency will cause tremendously racial conflicts.

The second point is that I think all the occupations should not involve with bias. Once a person is biased in work, his/her decision is impartial and prejudiced. The customers or colleagues in different race or religion probably will be treated unfairly. For instance, in a court, if a judge has a bias in favor of white people and there are two suspects of burglary, one is white and the other is black, he will think the black person is the burglar and bring him in a verdict of guilty. But the white guy is the real criminal. From this example, we can see the lack of objective judgment is inappropriate for any occupation.

People are all equal is the third reason. “All men are created equal” is a famous quote from Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States. The quote refers that no one has the right to possess, or to control others. No one should be a slave of another person because of the color of his/her skin. For example, in the old time, African slaves had been discriminated and been treated as property forcing to work in many countries such as America, Spain, France, etc. They could be held against their will from the time of their capture, purchase or birth. The system of slavery totally deprived the human rights of African people. Thus, we should not make the same mistake fight against the human rights.

Racists believe that there are inherent differences in people’s traits and capacities that are entirely due to their race. They believe that some races are better than others. In my opinion, I agree with their belief in some way because people do born differently, some are smart, intelligent, and some are not. But people’s intelligence is not determined by their race. Everyone does not have to right to choose the race and the color. Moreover, there is no direct evidence to prove their belief. Take Albert Einstein for example. Although his race was persecuted by the German, his theory of relativity made him one of the greatest men in the world. In fact, this example directly proves that the racial hygiene of the racism is foolish and wrong.

In conclusion, the above three points give reasonable and clear explanations about why racists are ineligible in the workplace. Their characteristics of violent inclination, racial discrimination, and depriving of human rights are inappropriate for any job. In the case of John Galliano at the beginning, his verbal abuse to others was harmful enough to get him fired. It is reasonable for Dior to fire him because of his misbehavior. However, people should set a model of civilization but cause hatred between races to countries, especially celebrity.

A Change in My Body

It is very sad to see my weight from 50(I was a freshman) to 60(I am a junior) on the screen of the scale. Throughout 3 years in the college, I think the biggest harvest that I get is my horrible fat, not the knowledge. It sounds ashamed. Actually, the fat really makes me the lack of confidence more serious. It was said that fat people usually have the wide mind as their bodies but I am not. I find the more fat of my body makes me feel inferior to other girls more serious. Especially my mom, she is a mother which always thinks her daughter is beautiful. But… she also started to tell me that I am too fat. In addition, she is fat, too. But she told me that she was very slim as my age! That really breaks my confidence. Sometimes I also find many mommies are more thin than me. Well, I think the fat is not only a burden on the health but also a pressure on the mind.
Even though now the summer is coming, I still wear a light coat to hide my fat body. Even it is really a hot day. But in summer, you must see many girls wear a t-shirt and the shorts to show their slim curve everywhere. That always makes me so envious of them. Trace back the reason of becoming fat. I think it results from always sitting on the seat all day to use the computer, the lack of sports and eating the food from outside selling. I think I really should make a decision to lose my weight right away. But it is a cruel to avoid delicious food for me and tired with continuous exercise. Maybe we all know the reason of me becoming fat. But, I wish I can be took a picture of thin look when I graduate from school next year. So, I must work hard in losing weight in this summer! Thinking in an Another Way

Have you ever wanted to get or do something in strong desire? I think the over pursuit of something which surpass your ability to handle it or just is not the timing to let you own it can be seen as an unhealthy behavior. In my case, I want to fall in love with someone for a long~ time.... Maybe you think that is fine because it is just a natural reaction for the teenagers who have strong Hormones. It is the fact I started to lose my confidence in myself by my growing age and the growing number of my friends who have a lover.
I have never fallen in love with anyone but I had the crush on boys since I was 6, therefore I interested in love very~ early. However, I was always no chance to satisfy my fantasy about love. Gradually, I would compare me to the other girls who already have boyfriends and think what is my problem about boys couldn't crush on me. Then, my confidence was losing little by little. I thought this persistence was unhealthy to the mood. I wanted to take it easy, but I just couldn't.
I discussed this problem with friends many times whatever they encouraged me with many kind words, and I still couldn't stop to think numerously why. Someday, I mentioned the same topic to my aunt. Her thought was unexpected and interesting for me. In Buddhism, there was a noun of the debt of relationship. Its meaning was now whomever you met and interacted all because you guys also did these in previous life. Besides, supposed you did something bad to your friend in previous life, therefore you would be done something bad by this friend in present life. My aunt said maybe the reason of my single was I didn't have much debt of relationship to boys.
I was surprised that I really felt comfortable after I heard this speech. It made me believe I wasn't worse with the most of girls. I just waited for my creditors coming. Then, I found the saying of the debt of relationship very matched the thought of love I want to own, maybe it was the reason which could influence my mind. Even though I still have the expectancy for owning a lover now, I can have a positive attitude for facing single. Sometimes, the pressure in mind is hard to release but also easy by just changing our thought in a new way.

Graduation Ceremony

I attended to the graduation ceremony on June 3 and I completely felt happy and a little bit sad. In fact, I should be one of them if I did not change my major. I saw a lot of my ex-classmates and suddenly I everything happened in the previous four years flashed through my mind. The four-year university life is too short and I can completely remember what I did during the four years with them. I am so happy to see them finish their academy and they are going to have new beginnings in their life. Some are going to do the military service and some are going to work. No matter what they are going to do, I hope they can be happy forever. And I have only one year left in my college. Before I become a senior, I hope I can take advantage of the last year to do something different and meaningful. I think the university life will be the most incredible and awesome time in my life and I want to make it the best by myself. Although the final exam is not over and the summer break does not start yet, I am already missing the school now. (205)

The Most Memorable Vacation

Today,I'm going to talk about the most memorable vacation.The most memorable vacation was definitely when I were just graduated from the junior high school.My family and I went to one of the small island in Philipine named Buho.Almost the whole family from my mother sides relatives including aunties,uncles in law,cousins,and grandmother are all went with us as a really big and happy group.We chose an elegant hotel and stayed in there for three more days and did nothing at all but relaxing.What we can really do inside this luxery resort?First of all,relaxing,relaxing and relaxing.Secondly,sleeping,sleeping and sleeping.Thirdly,having rich buffet no matter what time is was.The last but not least,laying down beside beach and doing nothing with astonishing ocean view with breeze blowing.We all enjoyed in this short trip in order to taking a break in our rapid society and releasing our life pressures.The reason why this journey is that special to me and that memorable.That was the last time I traveled abroad with my mum.However,she mentioned several times that she really wants to visit another countries again if she fights the cancer successfully.Well,my family and I all prefer the relaxing schedule in trip without any routine and exhausted events.Just turn off the mobile phone and enjoy the life.Traveling with family is the best memory and also the most important thing in my life.(292)

What Do You Eat at Breakfast

Do you eat breakfast every day? In the twenty first century, people always pursue things less time-consuming. They pursue convenience, and efficiency. Therefore, it has been lasted for a long time that people do not consume sufficient nutrition for breakfast. However, about few years ago, people started concerning with what they eat and whether they eat right.

That is because of the raise of health consciousness.

Eating breakfast becomes more and more popular in our society. And it can be seen obviously from the mass media and the study of medical science. For instance, the pop singer named Lu Kuang Chung had composed a song named ‘Tsao An Chen Chih Mei’ in 2007 strongly reminded people about the importance of eating breakfast. And it stirred up a wave of eating breakfast. Another example is a study from the Northwestern University in America. According to the study, those people who do not eat breakfast have higher probability to suffer from heart disease and diabetes.

I eat breakfast every day. And I think to have a great breakfast would start an energetic day. When I was young, my parents always told me the importance of eating breakfast. Therefore, I have been carried this advice in my mind since my parents told me. However, because I had experienced some events, I much more believed that what my parents had said was true. I had seen many times that my classmates always fainted during the morning rally when I was in elementary, junior high, and senior high schools. Often the reason why they fainted was because that they did not eat breakfast.

No matter you are in a diet or reducing weight, it is important to have a balanced diet. There are many kinds of breakfast that you can choose. Like Chinese breakfast, Japanese breakfast, European breakfast, American breakfast, and etc. No matter what breakfast you choose, if only the diet is balanced, the breakfast you choose would be right. There is a recipe which is highly recommended on the Internet. The recipe is composed of a cup of milk, an egg or a small plate of boiled meat, few slices of whole-grain-bread, a small plate of vegetable, and fruits or a cup of juice. I do not insist that everyone should eat breakfast. But it would be healthier and more energetic for us to have breakfast every day. (395)

The differences between men and women

Although all of us are human being, the men and the women have different impression. In my opinion, the habit in life is different between men and women. Most of the men are not very mind their hair style, clothing and so on. They don’t like shopping for a long time and just buy what they really need. On the contrary, women are very care about their appearances. They spend lots of money on the cosmetics, changing the hair style, hair color, and the fashionable clothes. Women can buy things everywhere. Such as shopping at the department store, internet shops, night market even on the TV program.

    Speaking of the personality between men and women. There is no denying that women are more emotional than the man. Take myself for instance. When I get into trouble, I am very impatient at anything. I can hardly control my feelings. I think most of the women have the same feeling as me. On the other hand, the man can calm himself down when they face the problem. The women can do things carefully, but the man are negligent.

To make the long story short, the men and women have some differences. But it is natural things. The women don’t understand each other and they have many kinds of characteristics. Not to say between the men and the women. I think we should esteem someone’s feeling no matter the person is the men or the women. We can learn different things from each other. Someday, I will get married and have a baby. I will become a wife and mother. I have to learn how to get along with the boys. It’s very important to realize the difference between the men and the women. The habit in life are very different.

My best friends

My best friends

There are seven people in our group. They are Jun, Wu, Yining, Doggy, Mandy, QQ and me. We study in the girl’s senior high school. That is to say, we meet each other in the special place-Keelung. All of us have different characteristics. We esteem each other. Although we study in different college, we are still good friends. For example,  Yining and Jun are studying in Hwalien and Taichung, when they come back to Taipei we always take a day to get together. We tell the little story about school’s life to each other. Sometimes they share the delicious food to all of us such as Machi and moon cake.

We went to the café shop last Saturday. We drank flower tea with cake. Then we went the doggy’s house to chat. We are very surprised that Yining is falling in love. To me, she is a introvert person. She doesn’t like to talk to the men because she is very shy. However, as her best friend, I am so joyful with her. Her boyfriend is a typically handsome guy. He is very honest and kindness. I think he is a consideration person. Take Yining’s birthday for instance. He disguises he forgot her birthday. My friend told the things angrily and crying loudly. I know all of the things but I can’t tell her. Because we send a present to Hwalien to her. She didn’t know this secret. At that time, I think she is the most happiness woman.

    In the evening, we went to the Shilin night market to buy clothes and some things. Wu bought the skirt but she can’t wear it. Because she gets fatter and fatter. We decide to keep fit in this summer vacation. I really want to wear the mini skirt and shorts. I will go exercise such as running in the playground and swimming in the swimming pool for one hour. We are going to be a beautiful and healthy girls.

    To be frank, I am very cherish this relationship. They are very cute just like an angel. They always tell the different ways to help me when I get in to the trouble. Most important is that we care about each other. Even though we are seperated far away. No matter where they are, I will always love them. They are my sisters and also my lovely and sweet family.    (401 words)   

The Differences Between Men and Women

This is one of my opinion about the differences between men and women.God created human beings and divided into two genders,one is male and the other is female.They have own extential meaning.I'd like to discuss the difference in variety briefly between men and women.First of all,about the relationship.Basicly,a man does not call a relationship a relationship especially when something changes,like breaking up with their partner.Men used to hiding their real feeling in mind and looks alright.Well maybe figure out what they do really want and regret for,sometimes.And on the other hand,women would cry and pour hearts out to girlfriends and say 'All Men Are Idiots'.And then adjust themselves and go on their life.Second,differ from thought process,men take problems as challenges or opportunities.They want to try hard to solve problems in quickly and efficient manner.And women usually are flustered in dealing with situation.Furthermore,even though women can't stay clam easily during the situation.They will sometimes admit making a mistake,which is men embarrased to do.Thirdly,women always be more sensitive than men.Somewhat say that women have very special six sense.And women are mature much faster than men.That's also the reason why women or girls love to choose someone elder than themselves in romance.However,in communication.Man would rather switches himself in order to be a better man and usually be silent.But women often use communication to talk with partners as a method for reaching a conclusion.Well,another interesting saying that time sense.When men say that 'okay!I'm ready to go out.' means that he is ready to go.In oppsite,when women say that 'okay!I'm ready to go out.' which means that she will be ready to go and then turn around just continue her make-up.(286)

Is Lying Always Bad?

Everyone may lie to people many times in their whole life. Some people lie because they want to do the bad thing. On the other hand, some people lie just because they do not want to hurt other people. Is lying always bad? I don’t think so. I think that many people tell the white lie.
There is a story about the white lie. A postman who always send letters to the mountain and there was an old woman lived in a house alone. She was a blind people so the postman would read the letter which was from her son to her. Then that postman will retired soon and he took his disciple to go to see the old woman. The postman told his disciple that he should read the letter to the old woman. When the young postman started to read the letter, he found that there were no words in the letter. He was confused and he asked the old postman. The old postman told him that the old woman’s son was dead in the war, but she did not know. She thought that her son was live in the big city and very busy, so he could not come back. The old woman would wait his son’s letter everyday and she always said that her son was a good person. The old postman did not tell the truth to the old woman because he did not want to see her to be sad. So, he told his disciple that he should come to the old woman’s house everyday and read her the letter.
Lying is not a good habit for us. However, there are some situations that we have to tell the lie. Truth is always being cruel. Telling the lie is just to make people feel well. So I think that lying is not always bad. (311)

The Differences Between Men and Women

Jeanne Louise Calment was the most long- lived person in the world. She was 122 years old. In Taiwan, men’s life expectancy is 74.5 years old and women’s life expectancy is 80.8 years old. Why women can live longer than men? There are some reasons about it.
The first reason is about the sexhormone. Men would secrete testosterone and it would make men to be angry easily and aggressive in the puberty. When men into the middle- age, testosterone may increase the bad cholesterol and let them to get heart diseases easily. However, women would secrete estrogen and it would protect women’s body. Estrogen would decrease the dander of the heart disease and the osteoporosis. So, women may be healthier than man by the sexhormone.
The second reason is the eating habit. Most of women want to have a slim body, so they eat many vegetables, fruits and the law calorie’s food. On the other hand, most men want to be strong, so they eat much meat, dairy and the high calorie’s food. So women may be healthier than men by the eating habit.
The third reason is living habits. Men have more bad habits than women. Many men like to drink and smoke. According to the survey, there are 50 percent of men smoking and drinking, but there are only 4.8 percent of women smoking and 22.6 percent of women drinking in Taiwan. The last reason is about the personality. When men face the pressure, they don’t like to share their feeling with friends. They want to solve problems by themselves. However, women are different from men. Women like to talk with friends. If they feel sad, they would like to share their feeling with friends and family. According to the medical research, depressing may make people have disease easily. So, men’s personality may let them get sick easier than women.
I think to be a long- lived person is not very difficult. Men just eat healthier, improve the living habit and keep in a good mood. Then, they can live as long- lived as women. (357)

A Good Deed

In the school, the teacher taught that we should do the good thing every day. For example, helping the old person to cross the road and giving the seat to the old person or the pregnant woman. I remember that I took the bus one time, I saw a young man sit on the priority seat. Then there is an old man came up to the bus. The young man pretended to sleep and he did not want to stand up. I felt very angry. That young man was so abominable. Then I hit lightly to the young man and told him that he should stand up to give the seat to the old man. He was surprise and a little angry. Although he was a little angry he still stood up to give the seat to the old man. The old man very thanks for me. I felt very happy all day because I help a person and did a good thing. When I came home, I told my mom this thing and hope that she could compliment on me, but she did not. My mom told me another story.
One day, a teacher brought her students to take the MRT. In the MRT, there is a girl sit on the priority seat and there is an old man who was standing beside her. However, she did not stand up and she just looked down on her shoes. The teacher saw the situation and she told her students that if there were old people in the MRT we should give the seat to them. Teacher said loudly and she wanted to let the girl could hear what she said. And there were many people saw the girl. The girl heard about the conversation, but she did not stand up and she still looked down her shoes. When the station was arrived, the girl stood up and walked slowly to the gate. The girl was the handicapped.
My mom told me this story because she wanted me to know that the young man who was called up by me maybe he was get sick today. So, he did not give the seat to the old man. Helping people is a good thing to us, but we still have to consider others’ mind. (382)

Rabindranath Tagore

Rabindranath Tagore is my favorite poet. He is an Indian. When he was a child, he went to school which established by British. However, he thought that school was too mechanical and boring. He hated his school life. He went to many schools and he couldn’t stay there over a year. His father understood him so much, so he let Tagore study at home. Tagore liked to write. He wrote not only poems but also novels, dramas and prose. He is a poet also a philosopher. His poems are gifts for God and all of his poems are about love, love God, love people, love country and love everything. He was also extolled the life. Reading his poem can make me feel that life is beautiful and hopeful. He wrote many good works. Then he got the Nobel Prize of literature. He is the first Asian people to get the Nobel Prize. I think his poems can encourage our heart and spirit. (162)

The Difference Between Men And Women

There are many different differenced between men and women, for example: the appearance, the personality…etc. I want to describe the different between men and women are their attitude toward the matter.
Men are always more sense, women are always more sensibility. Sense means when something happened, we do not consider it by our feeling, and we use logic. On the contrary, sensibility means we add our feeling when we deal with the matter.
Women are touched easily by many things, but men do not. For example, I watched a movie with many friends. The movie named”Hachi”. It is talked about a dog named “Hachi”, it went to the train station for waiting its’ owner. After the owner passed away, Hachi did not know it. Hachi still went to the train station for waiting him. When we watched the movie, all of the girls cried. But boys did not cry.
This example can prove that women are always affected by emotion, but men do not. So when men deal with the matter, they would base on the fact, and nothing personal. When women deal with the matter, they are affected by emotion easily.
I saw a picture of men and women’s brain on the Internet. It shows that the part which control emotion in women’s brain is much biiger then the part in men’s brain. I think that is why men are more sense, and women are more sensibility.
Everyone has sense and sensibility. No one is completely sense or sensibility. Our background would influence our personality. But normally, men are sense and women are sensibility.

Renting House

Recently, Natalie and I were busying for find a room for us to rent. We cannot live the dormitory where we lived now, because our school buys the dormitory. The drillmaster and many people said that our dormitory would provide for the students who come for China to live. Many people in this dormitory are very angry, because some of students lived here for three years. Natalie and I decide do not want to live Yangmingshan, because both of us want to have a part tome job. It would be very inconvenient for us to live at Yangmingshan. If we live Yangmingshan we have to take the bus everyday for the part time job. Also, it is convenient for us to live bottom of mountain. When we want to go shopping, we can take the MRT immediately.
Finding a good room is a hard mission. It takes lots of time. First, we have to search the room on the rental websites. Second, we sift some bad room out. Then we went to the room to see the real environment. Because some landlord would put the more beautiful pictures than the rooms actual are.
Looking the room is very tiring job, because we have to walk a long way for looking a room. Let me introduce some room we looked. The first room we looked which is my favorite room in the rental website. But the attitude of the landlord is pretty bad. People said that landlord is a very important factor when you choose the room for renting. So we do not think over this room.
The second house is big, and the landlord is good. But it has a bad point; it is very close to many clubs. This kind of clubs is complicated, the customers pay, and the “ladies” accompany them for drinking and playing games. So we also do not think over this room although it is very large.
The third room is the most beautiful room. It looks like brand new. The ventilation is the best over all the room we looked. And the bathroom is awesome, it separate washroom and bathroom. But it is really a little too far for us to walk to the MRT station. It is very pity, because both of Natalie and I very like this room.
The final room is in a community, which means the guard would guard the entrance, it pretty safe. The room is a little not ventilate well. But the size of the room is perfect for us. The attitude of the landlord is very good. So we decide to live there.
