I saw this movie about two month ago, it is a French movie; it is considered the masterpiece of erotica by Luis Bunuel. “Balle De Jour” means the beauty of the day in French, which indicates “belle de nuit” the beauty of the night. Unlike movies from Hollywood, this European movie has more messages which the director wants to tell the audience.
Severine, the heroine in the film, is a beautiful young woman married to a handsome doctor. She loves her husband very much but can not bring herself to have physical touch with him. She makes up some kinky, erotic and vivid imagination to satisfy her sex desire; eventually, she becomes a prostitute working during the day. The whole movie was filled by the reality and kinky dreams Severine made up. In the end, you will totally get confused of what is real and what is not.
Because I am really curious and was attracted by this movie, I have found a lot of websites trying to make clear what is going on in the movie. But the more information I get, the more confuse I am. For instance, if she loves her husband so very much, why doesn’t she make love with him? And why she decided to be a prostitute?
