Should Euthanasia be Legalized

Do you think that euthanasia is a kind of murders? This issue is very controversial all the time. Try to think about this, if there is a person who is you friend or relative, he or she faces the situation which is that he or she has to decide if he or she should accept euthanasia. What is your feeling about it? Do you think that he or she ought to be euthanatized or not? I do not agree euthanasia because people need to consider the rights of patients, moods of people who are related to the patient, and another solution, such as hospice palliative care.
Everyone has his or her own rights. Even though the person is going to die, he or she has the right to choose the way he or she dies and how to live his or her rest life. In 2005, an American woman, Terri Schiavo, died because of dehydration. Terri Schiavo’s brain was hurt, which caused that she could not do anything but sleeping, and at that time, she was in a coma. The doctor told her family that she would not be a normal any more. Finally, her husband decided to detach her from the tube. This action caused Terri Schiavo’s dehydration and death. The event was an attack in the society. The contention about euthanasia had continuing after Terri Schiavo’s death because she did not say that she wanted to end her life. But her husband made a decision for her. Was it right? In my opinion, we do not have the right to decide others’ lives even though they cannot control themselves.
If there’s a person who is your friend or relative and is going to accept the euthanasia, how do you feel? Do you feel well because the patient can get rid of pain? Or do you feel sad for the patient’s death? The most serious influence of euthanasia is that people who are alive must suffer from the patient’s death. It is said that people who are still alive are the most suffering. The person who is dead cannot feel anything, but his or her family and friends are in sorrow. That is one of the reason why the patient dare accept the cure which is very painful.
Hospice palliative care is a solution to the person who does not want to take the cure. And now more and more patients accept this way. Because they do not have to suffer from the process of the cure, just enjoy the rest of their lives and do what they want to do. Some patients’ disease may be possibility of recurrence, and it would be more serious than before. I think hospice palliative care is better for the patients because they will not take the painful cure.
In conclusion, I think euthanasia should not be legalized because there is another solution. And every person’s life is valuable. People do not have the right to end others’ lives. Everyone should treasure his or her own life and time to do thing meaningful.
