When I was a fresh man, I was tired of Western Literature class. I did not know the exact reason but I considered the Bible was too difficult to make me love it. Frankly speaking, I preferred studying mythology to studying Bible because I found there were a lot of lovely characters in the mythology and sometimes I could learn a lot from them. So I decided to write a letter to a person who I always admire—Hercules.
Dear Hercules,
After reading your whole life, I discovered that I had a lot of things to learn from you. Though you always did things without thinking and acted out of blind impulse so that you hurt many people, I admire your confidence, courage and fearlessness. Do you know, Hercules? I had been a shy girl and always lack of confidence which made me shrink into a corner when I did anything because I did not have the courage to try; I was afraid of failure. Therefore, I envied you that you had fearless courage and strong confidence to do what you want to do and didn’t care anyone’s thought. I thought the sentence; “The brave fear nothing” fits your character. Your life experiences were suffering more than happy but your whole life was incredible. And then, I am only twenty-one years-old so my life is still long; I wish I can have your half courage and confidence to create my own colorful story.
Besides, in my opinion, everyone will make mistakes. However, people who have the courage to face the mistakes and take responsibility are real men. In my heart, you are a manly man. Many people are afraid of taking responsibility, including me, because it is troublesome. However, you are different because you have these noble thoughts; this is exactly what I have to learn from you. In the end, I want to give you an advice, look before you leap. If you had thought deeply before doing anything, you would have become a better man and led a wonderful life.(342)
