Effects of Technology

“Technology originate from human nature” which is a well-known slogan from a TV commercial. Technology makes our life easier. When encountering problems or inconveniences in life, we attempt to research and come up with devices which can satisfy the need. Cell phones are one of most influential power over our life. I would like to address three effects in our life. They are the feeling of losing, the sense of security and ways of communication.

I get weird feeling of losing something if I forget to take my cell phone with me. Before the invention of cell phones, my life was like everyone else. It was fine without carrying a cell phone around. Unconsciously, the emergence of cell phone has been changing my life. According to a survey, Taiwanese cannot live without it. We are afraid of missing a call. I think it is kind of a sense of insecurity.

With cell phones’ existence, we will not miss any information so that we have a sense of stable and security. Cell phones provide us immediate information. I don’t just talk about the online system. It also offers us to reach people and get the gossip or information by making phone calls. Through a phone call, we get to know where friends whom we are going to meet are and also how issues are handled.

Cell phones change our methods of communication in relationship. Text messages are a good function that provides us to speak without embarrassing situation. We use it to invite our dates out for dinner. We also cannot wait. There is a strong desire to speak with the person right away. We become impatient. Written expression via the phone replace the letter by mail. Text messages are also convenient when the person whom you would like to reach cannot answer the phone.

Cell phones have been changing our life by its latest functions. We can surf on the Internet via the cell phones now. As long as our desire toward a better lifestyle is seen and is also considered it as a trend in the market, a new function will be invented. Technology is unlimited, so is human being’s desire which is the motivation for the creativity. (369)
