The Last of the Mohicans

In this semester, I learn many authors and works from American Literature. James Fenimore Cooper was a popular American writer of the early 19^th century. He is best remembered as a novelist who wrote the historical novels known as the Leatherstocking Tales. Among his most famous work is “The Last of the Mohicans”. Recently, I saw a movie - “The Last of the Mohicans”. This movie reorganized from James Fenimore Cooper’s novel that published in 1826. This story’s background is the 18^th century England and France’s seven years war. Due to France and England’s aggression, North America indigenous people have to protect their territory and they have to against their aggression. So North America indigenous people should seek refuge with one of them. Because of this reason, many different tribes became antagonistic relationship. For example, because England slaughtered the Huran, so they decided to cooperate with France. And Mohicans, because England invaded Mohicans’s territory, so they became England’s people. Mohicans were ordered to fight a war by England. In this story, Magua, the Indian fighter, hate white people. In 18^th century, England wanted to become the most powerful nation in this world, so they occupied many places. Magua is Huran. His wife and his children were killed by England. Of course, Magua was abominated England. So he decided to help France to fight England. Gradually, Magua was influenced. He became greedy. He wanted to obtain more territory and wealth. So he became more brutal. Even France defeated England. And England was willing to leave the colony. But Magua didn’t want to forgive England. He wanted to kill all the England’s people. Magua wanted to let them feel the pain of lost family. But finally, he was killed by Chingachgook. When I finished seeing this movie, I want to cry. The war is terrible. I don’t understand why someone wants to become the most powerful person in the whole world. In order to achieve their purpose, they don’t care how many innocent people dead. I think they are really selfish. There are sixty million people in this world. White people, black people, and yellow people are only difference is the color. Actually, we are the same heart. No one is nobler or more intelligent. Everybody is equality in this world. I like “ We Are The World” this song. I like the lyrics of a section – “We are the world, we are the children. We are the ones who make a brighter day. So let's start giving. There's a choice we're making. We're saving our own lives. It's true we'll make a better day. Just you and me.” I hope the world peace.
