A Special Christmas

About two months ago, our chorus teacher told us that there was a chance to let us perform. We were all very happy and exciting. I thought I was the happiest person because this was the first performance after I joined the chorus. The content of the performance was about Christmas songs. A manager of a department store in Tian-Mu(天母) invited the Affiliated Senior High School of NTNU’s chorus to sing some Christmas songs while Christmas days. Because our chorus teacher also taught there, he thought it was also a good chance for us. We practiced many Christmas songs, but we had some troubles when we practiced. Some of boys are poor at English; they didn’t know how to pronounce the words or didn’t know the meaning of words. It’s hard to teach them because they forgot the words easily. Sometimes they finally could say the words but when they were singing, they could song the wrong pitch. Our teacher always taught boys harder than girls because most of them didn’t have the music base. We finally practiced all the Christmas songs before the performance. Because some members had classes until six o’clock, I had to wait for them and took them to the department store. I thought we didn’t have to waste time on waiting a taxi. However, I was wrong! So many people were waiting for the taxi! We just waited the taxi come and practiced Christmas songs. After about half an hour, we arrived at the department store. Our chorus leader had waited for us. He took us to the place where we could change our clothes. This was the first time I wore a long black dress. It made me feel more different than before. I thought I can be more concentrate on this performance when I wore the dress. Boys wore black suits and red ties. Some of our members complained why they should wear this kind of suits. I said” Stop complaining! I told you a secret. Women think the handsomest moment for men is when they wear suits.” After they heard what I said, they stop complaining and smile to me. When I saw their smile on their face, it’s a little funny. After the performance ended, I was very tired. But I had a good time. I was very happy that we had this chance to performance. I also realized that one minute on the stage and ten years of practice off the stage. I think if I was the chorus leader next year, I would have a Christmas performance ourselves. I hope the manager would invite Hwa-Kang chorus first not the Affiliated Senior High School of NTNU’s chorus next time.
