According
to Cindy’s article, I think I belong to the third type -
a rational shopper. Before shopping, I make a list. The list
not only helps me remember what I should buy but also controls me not to
purchase unnecessary things. In addition, I bring money which is just enough
for me to buy my things which is on the list. That is to say, I do not bring
too much extra money in my pocket. As a student, I do not have much money and
my main pocketbook comes from my parents. Therefore, making a budget is very
important to me. Both ways, making a purchase list and bringing exact money,
make me be a rational shopper.
Until I entered the university and I had to live by myself independently,
I knew how important my allowances was. From elementary to senior high school,
I lived at home and commuted to school every day. Because all things had already
done, I did not worry my living, such as three meals, transportation, and
illness. If I had any problem, I just asked my parents for help. Therefore, even
though my pocket money was not as much as the allowances I have now, I used it without
any restriction. I remember that I bought a box of colorful pens. Although I only used three pens
which were red, blue and black ones, I still bought it. I thought the reason
was that buying that box of pens satisfied my shopping desire.
Now, I am a college student. I have to be independent and learn to solve
problems. I need to have a distribution: how many allowances I distribute to
food and drink, how much money I distribute to transportation and how much
money I should prepare for unexpected illness. Therefore, I cannot use money
with any restriction. In the period of university, I become a rational shopper
gradually.
