As soon as I search the information about “plagiarism” and “academic honesty” on the Internet, the noun of “academic dishonesty” shows on the screen. There are several types about academic dishonesty. Plagiarism is one type of them. The meaning of plagiarism is one person who steals other person’s articles without permittance or takes those articles as own things. These behaviors are not legal. Everybody has copyright. No one can steal other people’s works and articles.
In the recent days, I saw one TV series. Some units of it said about plagiarism. A lawyer wanted to convince to the author to accuse the pirates. However, most of pirates were elementary school students. They copied the author’s articles and works just because they admired her. They didn’t know they had been broken the law. Therefore, the author and the lawyer gave up accusing those students and forgiving them.
I think most of people are like those elementary school students. They have no bad intention to offend the author. They just admire the author and want to share the author’s works with others. They hope their idol could more famous. However, I think we can use another ways to prove our love. We can spend money buying the works instead of copying from the Internet.
The meaning of academic honesty is contrast with plagiarism. It means that the works of students written by themselves. They fulfill their homework with honest heart and behavior. Some students may use sentences and articles from the Internet as their sentences. However, the behavior is not permitted. The behavior doesn’t let them more excellent. The information from the Internet is only a reference material. I think if we must use the information from the Internet, we also must write down the source to esteem the author.
I think plagiarism will let the author lose power to invite new works. After a long time, the author hides himself and we will lose a good author in the world. We shouldn’t plagiarize again and again. The behavior is not good for your idols and you. Remember it and don’t do that.
