Felt like I should update today because the beginning didn't go too well. I was about 45 minutes into my hour-long commute when I realized that I'd left my laptop at home. Can't really do work without it, so I had to turn around and get it. Didn't get to the office until about 1.5 hours after I usually do. That's always fun.
Actually, yesterday's start was kind of iffy too because in my sleep-induced state, I somehow thought it was the weekend when my alarm woke me up. So I turned my alarm off and went back to sleep. Luckily, about half an hour later I somehow realized that it was actually Monday and bolted out of bed. The brain's a funny thing sometimes. I still have no idea how I came to that realization because I was legitimately asleep. I was able to rush all my morning rituals to still get to work on time.
Tonight should be ok, though, since I think I'm seeing Star Trek at the IMAX theater with Tatiana and her boyfriend, Ben. I was never a big Trek fan, but this movie looks pretty entertaining. It was kind of a last minute thing though, so no one else was able to come with us. Mitch initially wanted to, but then he backed out once he heard Ben was coming. He used to go out with Tatiana, and I guess things are still kind of awkward. Too bad. I could've actually had the opportunity to see the new G.I. Joe movie several months before it's released, but I already made these plans. Oh well.
Here is a random candlepin video for those of you who have no idea what it is. It's much harder than regular tenpin bowling, but the main advantages are 1) that you get three balls per frame instead of two (more bowling!) and 2) they don't clear off the knocked down pins in between each ball, so you can pull out crazy ricochet shots. It's just better.
Anyway, so Julie's roommates didn't want to do candlepin, so I figured we'd try to compromise. Since you usually play at least two strings when you go bowling, I suggested we just play one of each. Sounds good, right? But one of the roommates, I think his name was Jason, was just like, "No, I just wanna do ten pin." So I'm like uhhhhhh, ok. Julie suggested we just split up, but I thought that was a dumb idea since we all got together to hang out. So we just started off playing tenpin.
I bowled a 160, which is good for me. I almost always do candlepin so I'm not used to the big balls. I won by a lot. :) During the first game, it was pretty segregated anyway. We were split up 4 and 4, with Julie and her roommates on one lane and the rest of us on the other. Julie talked to us a bit, but her roommates didn't even attempt to be friendly. Bleh. So after the first game, we decided to split up and play candlepin.
We actually played 3 whole games of candlepin, which is a ton of bowling. I think I scored 86, 72, 94. I beat Jeremy by one in the first game, got third in the second game (blech), and won the third.
During this time, Julie and her roommates left without even saying goodbye. I thought that was incredibly rude. She had some excuses afterwards about her roommates running away and them having to catch a shuttle back to the T stop, but it was still just not cool. Oh well, the rest of us had fun at least.
