Refrigerator Didn't Work

My refrigerator didn't work right today!!!Actually, it has been like this for several days, at least 3 days I believe. Yesterday I wanted to drink milk, so I took the milk out. But when I open the milk, it didn't look good. It looks like yogurt! I knew the milk went bad, but I didn't think too much. Then I noticed that the temperature setting of the refrigerator was too high, and I thought that may be the reason why the food went bad a few days ago. I started to clean the fridge, and I threw away quite a lot of food. Then I went shopping and bought some more grocery and keep it in fridge. This morning I wanted to take some dumplings out from the freezer, and I noticed that everything in the freezer was soft. The ice cream I just bought yesterday and put it in the freezer was melting. Then I check the fridge side, and the temperature didn't seem cold enough. I wasn't sure what's going on, and I thought maybe I didn't close the door well last night. When my roommate got home for dinner today, I told him this problem. He put the thermograph in the fridge to measure the temp. After several hours he came back from school, he was very sure to tell me that there is something wrong with the refrigerator! Even worse, we didn't know when the fridge didn't work right, so we have to throw away almost everything in the fridge!!! Of course I wasn't happy about this, actually I was quite mad. I hate wasting food! However, there was nothing we can do, so we have to totally clean the fridge. About the food which were in the freezer, My roommate called John, who is his good friend and is also a chef, to ask his opinion. He told my roommate that the food in the freezer should be ok. It may not taste as good, but it is still ok to eat. So my roommate decided to keep everything in the freezer into another freezer which we never use in the basement. Anyway, at least the food in the freezer is still ok and we found the problem early. My roommate has to figure out what the problem is and try to fix it. We are worrying that we may have to spend an amount of money to fix it, and that could be painful!
