Gun Control Guns first appeared in early China, people used them with gunpowder to shoot enemies and attack other countries. At first, the gun’s power was not so big until people added gunpowder and bullets and then guns started to become powerful weapons in the world. And the purpose why people kept improving the gun’s power was because that there was war everywhere and each country’s scientists needed to invent better ways to improve the gun power to help their country win in the war. Nowadays the purpose of using a gun has changed, some countries allow people to have a gun in their home to protect themselves but other countries do not. In America, it is legal to have gun at your home. The America government believes in human rights and they trust their people can use gun in the right way such as using a gun to protect their home and family members security. In fact, most people believe in everybody’s mind that having a gun at home really can make you feel relieved and that you can have futher self-protection for your home. But on the other hand, a gun also can become a deadly weapon if you use it to kill innocent people like on the news, we see on televison that a crazy person took a gun into a campus and began shooting at students and killed many students or seriously injured then hurt. In my opinion, I think having a gun at home is dangerous because you do not know or think about what will happen someday, you will not have any idea that if your family members can control themselves or not. In Taiwan, it is illegal to have gun whether at home or anywhere else. If the police find that you have a gun with you, you will been sent to prison by the law. The reason Taiwanese government prohibits people from having guns is because they think a gun is such a powerful weapon it is not suitable for people to use a gun to protect themselves. Moreover, as a result of more shooting incidents in America, our government is very worried that similar incidents might happen in Taiwan. Since we know how dangerous and how powerful the gun is, our government should keep gun away from ordinary people and prevent them from getting a gun easily, and there are many ways that the government can prevent people from having guns and using them. First, we can use the law to control people if they have guns or smuggle guns in from foreign countries to use or sell to someone so they will been punished by the police and sent to prison. Or we can use commericals on TV and display the posters in public places to tell people not have guns or to use guns. In shorts, let them know that having a gun is an illegal deed. In my opinion, a gun is really a dangerous tool without any doubt but it still depends on how you use it; if you use it in the correct sense then it can help you save your life, on the other hand, if you use it for the purpose of hurting or killing people, you will be caught by the police and sentenced to poison for many years. So, whether a gun is dangerous or not, it all depends on how to use it, you can let it be a weapon of protection or killing instrument, it is all decided by you. 英4B林哲寬 英文作文(三) 590
