How to prevent brain drain

After reading this article, and understand the United States now have the problem of brain drain. However, In Taiwan, we also have the same problem.

In United States, Many foreign students come to there to get advanced science, technology, engineering and mathematics degrees. But many people can not obtain a visa to live and work here after graduation.This problem is due to the immigration policy of the United States.So far no agreement has been reached on how to stop this so-called reverse brain drain. The loss of highly skilled workers, usually related to the they lost the wealthier developing countries.

In Taiwan, we are faced with the problem of brain drain is  how to make intellectuals stay in Taiwan but does not apply to other countries.This issue is very different with the United States. We have many students studying abroad or even someone is taken the scholarship to study abroad, but when they get a degree, they has chosen to remain in the employment of other nations rather than go back to Taiwan to help develop. This is the brain drain problem we facing.

The United States limits the number of immigrants from other countries on a country-by-country basis. Students from countries with large populations generally have to wait the longest for a "green card," or proof of permanent residency. I think that the U.S. authorities to do so in order to protect employment opportunities for the people of the United States.

The U.S. say "We're out of touch. We are in a knowledge economy. It is all about competition. If we don't keep these people, if we don't compete, we're going to lose. We're going to become a third world country and they're going to become like us." So if our government can not come up with a good way to let the high intellectuals to stay in Taiwan to work instead of going to the United States or China then our country will not progress even back.

Finally, the question of brain drain, I have some suggestions. If our government can strengthen the people's patriotic concept and raising the employment salary. Then there would be so many people away from home and  working abroad.
