I am a person, who never thought to watch the NBA games, and in my
opinions, the basketball game is a kind of sport with the intense body
collision, and I never understand why boys have the great passion of this kind
of sport. But, this opinion was totally reversed by the powerful media.
When I first time heard about Jeremy Lin, it was from the media of
Taiwan. I still remembered that it was his first year of joining NBA, and he
accepted the invitation from Yao Ming to play for charity basketball game
during the summer vacation in Taiwan. The media uses the title “The Glory of
Taiwan” to report his news because he is the first Taiwanese American who can
join the NBA. At that moment, I just feel surprised of his identity but nothing
else. And then, I put this news behind of my head immediately.
A year later, I heard about Jeremy Lin again, and it was also from
the powerful media. But, this time the situation was completely different from
last year. Jeremy becomes a super star for the people all over the world. The media
gives Jeremy a great length report, and fans of him are all astonished by his
miraculous overnight success. For this reason I start to watch NBA games for Jeremy
because I am curious who is Jeremy Lin, why people love him so much, and why do
they call him Linsanity.
After I start to follow his news, I find that he is a person with
a good parental discipline. Different from the other basketball star, when
Jeremy has to speak to public, he always shows his modesty to the audience. He never
takes his success for granted, and he never forget to tell the audience how
much he loves to play basketball and how thankful for the God’s blessing. I cannot
deny that he has the unique talent for being a point guard, but the reason why I
adore him is his commendable personality. He let me witness what is the truth
of “humble in victory, and lose with
discouragement”. I believe that he will become better than better in the future,
and I hope that he can always keep this great virtue forever.(376 words)
