My Opinion about Plagiarism

After reading some information from the Internet about “Plagiarism”, I find that we always plagiarize other people’s idea, especially when we write our reports. In fact, “Plagiarism” means we copy other writers’ thought by using their articles or sentences, even words. Moreover, we don’t acknowledge our behaviors of plagiarism. Nowadays, students usually reproduce articles from the Internet to make reports and do homework. Gradually, they don’t think issues thoroughly anymore. Therefore, students’ creativity and originality declined seriously. It is useless for us to study universities, because the purpose of universities’ education is to help us using our “own” ways to convey our idea.
After all, we should absorb enough knowledge so that we can convey our opinions. We can quote others points of views which can not only emphasize our ideas but also strengthen the accuracy of our view. As a result, we can try some ways to avoid behaviors of plagiarism and confess others’ ideas are congruous with us.
First, we need to read through the materials we searched from the Internet, books, and some notes we recorded and summarize them. Afterwards, we should believe we have abilities to explain some important points in articles and reorganize them to be our own ideas. The most important is that we can add our new perspectives to define issues. It can not only improve our abilities of organization but also increase our accomplishment by thinking new viewpoints. For my point of view, I convinced that every article has its advantages and weaknesses. If we can find out their weaknesses and create new argument, we can also cultivate our abilities of analysis.
Second, we should avoid finishing our reports or studies in last minute. Being hurry will make your articles not only lack organization but also lose good quality. If we have sufficient time to finish our articles, we can check several times to avoid making mistakes and avoid plagiarizing effectively. Take myself for example; when I was a senior high school student, I was late for doing a report once. Therefore, I made a copy of some paragraphs which belongs to same issue and add some words to be my report. However, teacher found out that it is not actually written by me and I got zero at that time. I was extremely embarrassed about my behavior; meanwhile, I swore that I would do my homework on time or early in the future and never make the same mistake again during my life.
Third, it is a good way to create an outline of our perspectives. Then, we can use our outlines to make a whole article or report instead of plagiarizing the same form from our materials. When I write this article, I also use this way to reorganize some ideas from my materials and my idea. Furthermore, I realize that I can understand this issue more deeply and thoroughly.
Last but not least, we need to make others know sources of these materials. It is legal that we acknowledge borrowing others thought by showing the source. Afterwards, we need to check we do not reproduce the original articles which were written by other writers. If we borrow the idea from others, it is also necessary to check the congruousness between others’ idea and ours.
Eventually, in one hand, plagiarism is a serious behavior academically. Students always get zero or even are expelled from school after being found out they plagiarize others’ studies or articles. However, in other hand, we need to train using our own explanations to convey our ideas. If we need to write an English report, we should always remember that we can improve our second language better by writing ourselves hands. Furthermore, we can advance our creativity, originality, and ability of analysis. Consequently, we can never deceive ourselves forever. It is concrete to depend on our own brains to make our accomplishments instead of plagiarizing others’ thought for good.
