Reflections on an essay

The composition that I pick up to discuss is The World Today. I would like to know how the author described the society around us. By the way, I found out that I can learn many terms of use and examples from the article.

The author pointed out three subjects, and said that he is happy to live in modern world. “The first is freedom. He mentioned that his parents always say that their childhood was not as free as the present. The second is technology. Scientists have fulfilled many dreams of people. Everything is becoming possible. The third is medical development. Human beings have found cures to most diseases.” I agree with these three points, since they are easy to elaborate and relevant to the topic.

Therefore, he began to talk about freedom. “Freedom is essential to our life. It is why we are willing to fight for it.” Yes, yes, nowadays people care more about free wills. He also gave us some example, so let me just put one here. “If we have any dissatisfying policy from the government, we can raise our suggestions to them, and do not have to fear penalty by them. People were more conservative, and the domination of government was prevalent in that period.” Today, we have many ways to contact with the government, so it made government easier to understand what religions really want and need.

In addition, he talked about the technology. He said that many facilities have become more convenient and useful, such as cell phone and microwave. “The cell phone is much lighter than before. It can also connect to the Internet everywhere. We can find that everyone owns at least one cell phone. For food, we have the microwave now, and we can heat up food in just a few seconds.” I agree that technology has done so many good in these days; people live more in a convenient and high technology life. “We all need to thank scientists for inventing these convenient appliances.”

The last is medical development. He mentioned that people are able to live a longer life today. “Many people live for eighty or ninety years even over one hundred years.” He even pointed out the plastic surgery. “What is more, the medical development is not only for curing diseases, but also for improving people’s looks.”  And for the following sentences, I think that is really convincing. He gave a strong conclusion to support his points. “No one can deny that medicament saves many people’s life and brings happiness for us. Because of advanced medical development, we can enjoy being with our descendants, including grandchildren and great grandchildren, when we are old.”

For the conclusion of the essay, he said that the world today is wonderful. “Freedom makes us enjoy liberal lifestyle and thinking. Technology makes the world brilliant. Medicine makes people alive. Remember to cherish the Earth and protect the environment. For this, your descendants can enjoy the world.”

I do enjoy reading this composition. I found out many good ideas and sentences in the article, and the structure is well completed. Thus, I think I have chosen a great and nice essay this time.
