At first, I did not plan any goals for my summer vacation. I just
regarded summer vacation as a do-nothing holiday, such as be a couch potato
everyday or sleep all day. But I found that there was just little change in my
daily life, I was wasting my time and life as well, and then I decided to plan
some meaningful short trips, because there were so many fabulous places in
Taiwan that I have never been to. After careful deliberations, I totally chose
three counties in Taiwan, which were Taichung, Kaohsiung and Yilan.
First of all was Taichung. Taichung was definitely an urban life,
the traffic and buildings were similar to Taipei, but there were still some
interesting scenic spots we have to visit. One of those famous spot is Rainbow
Village. The whole walls of this small village were all painted by an old man,
he was about 70 years old and still painting everyday, living in Rainbow
Village. We were lucky to meet old man when we arrived there, and he introduced
some of his works to us. His painting style is very special, there just four
main pigments of his painting, including red, yellow, black and white, although
there just four colors on there, the wall still looked colorful. It was so
amazing!
The next stop was Kaohsiung. We spent five hours on the train to
arrive in the south of Taiwan. Kaohsiung was really a big city, but there were
more beautiful scenery than Taipei. We took the MRT there; I thought Taipei's
MRT was bigger and also more crowded than Kaohsiung, and you do not have to worry
about standing back to back on Kaohsiung's MRT. The main purpose that our
family traveled here was going to visit the E-DA World. In there, E-DA World
was just like an independent town, you can live in this town without went to
other places, like the land of joy and plenty, everything that should be here
is here, such as amusement park, shopping mall, schools, and Crown Plaza. The
life in E-DA which made me feel I was really on a vacation! We even made a
decision that visit E-DA World again next summer!
Finally we went back to north. We visited Yilan where faced the
Pacific Ocean on the east. Yilan was like a country, some of theses places were
all rural areas. There was hard to find a 7-11 so it was really inconvenient.
We decided to rent a car there, and traveled along the coastline, it was really
beautiful, we were on the car and it was raining outside but the sun was still
here, suddenly, the rainbow came out! All of us were screaming at that time,
because we never seen that huge rainbow in our lives.
Although I did not go abroad this summer vacation, I found more
marvelous view on this beautiful land and that were all invaluable! I think
that is the reason why the Portuguese called Taiwan Formosa!
