An Interesting and Meaningful Experience

This winter vocation, I had a part time job in my mom’s workplace, a hot pot restaurant. To have a part time job was just a common thing for not only me but also others. However, there was an unusual and funny thing which happened in one night. I could still remember that it was very cold so there were a lot of customers at that night. There were two Japanese women coming to the restaurant. My colleague offered service immediately when he saw them enter in. But he turned and came to me nervously few minutes later. And he said “They can’t say Chinese. Because you are English department, I think you can help them in English, right?” So, it became that I had to serve the women. However, both of them didn’t know Chinese nor English actually. It meant that my colleagues and I all met a big trouble because we didn’t know Japanese at all. Because we didn’t know how to solve the big problem, we had a discussion in the corner. Finally, one of the colleagues declared that he had a method so he went to help the customers bravely. However, the method gave all the other customers and other colleagues a big surprise. At the beginning, he showed a big smile to the women and then he started to perform the action of cattle, pig, sheep, cock and fish for the women. He performed not only the actions but also those animals’ sounds. It was really so amazing that all the people couldn’t say any thing at that time. But we all burnt out laughing few minutes later. The more amazing thing was that the women also showed the actions and sounds to express what they wanted to eat. When we saw the women’s actions, we all burnt out laughing again. Although the method was very special, I still respected for his brave and intelligence. And he led me know that I might meet the problems which I couldn’t solve right now. But if I never give up and always try my best, I can still success in one day. He really taught me a lot by this thing. In sum, it was really the most interesting and meaningful thing I met in the winter vocation.
